KTVU News Producer March 2012
From the start of her internship at KTVU in Oakland, she has proven herself as someone who is abundantly driven to learn about all aspects of broadcast journalism.
Personally, I am convinced Bia's future is in front of the camera, and I'm sure you will reach the same conclusion when you view her video clips. But she, unlike so many interns that seemingly pass through KTVU by the boatload, also has extreme interest in understanding the entirety of this profession.
Having been in this field for a decade and a half, I have seen plenty of interns who either just want to sail through for the school credit, or, conversely, whose aspirations focus solely on the glamor-side of broadcast
journalism and possess no real interest in the process. I cannot stresss enough how neither is the case with Bia. For example, months ago-mere days into her internship- she requested to shadow me as a line producer for a day to better grasp the many facets of what goes into a half hour newscast. Since then, it's clear that her interst has only bradened into other areas including grasping the nuances of writing and crafting a story.
KTVU News Anchor and Reporter 2012
In addition to the usual duties interns perform, Bia has gone the extra mile by going out with me and other reporters in the field to see how we gather news. This is something few interns take advantage of. She is a great help by assisting us gather information when we have our hands full and are under deadline pressure. She's not afraid to knock on doors, grab a tripod or do whatever is asked. While doing so she always has a bright smile on her face and a cheery, go-get-em attitude.
While in ther field Bia has also done several stand-ups
and shows improvement every time. She has a pleasant
voice, nice delivery and professional look. She willingly
takes advice and constructive criticism and works hard
to continually sharpen her performance.
Bia has been a leader among the other interns, showing
new arrivals their duties and how to do them better.
I believe Bia has a promising future in broadcast
journalism and I highly recommend her.
Director, Ohlone College Broadcasting-Film & TV March 2012
Bia majored in Broadcast Television News here at Ohlone and took classes here for two years. During that time Bia proved to be passionate about news. She has a terrific attitude, took advantage of every opportunity
to improve her skills, and was a key student in our news class, Bia has produced and directed the newscast, as wells as anchored and reported stories.
Bia also has the valuable ability to get along with fellow students, and lead them. She has tremendous enthusiasm and flexibility that will serve her well in our rapidly changing industry.

KRON 4 News Anchor and SFSU Broadcast Journalism Professor June 17, 2013
It is a pleasure to write a letter supporting Bia Roldan for a position with your company. I have worked closely with Bia in my role as professor in the Broadcast and Electronic Communication Arts Department (BECA) at San Francisco State University.
Bia was enrolled in two courses that I teach at SFSU.
Bia was a student in a News Writing for Television and
Radio course. Bia also was a student in a Capstone course
in our department in which students produce a weekly
half-hour newscast that is seen on San Francisco cable.
Bia performed admirably throughout the semester in that
demanding course as a reporter, anchor and writer.
Bia shows great potential to develop into a top-notch broadcast journalist and video content producer. Bia is ambitious and talented. Bia works well with others under the intense pressure of a looming deadline. I found
that many students relied on Bia for help and guidance in video production. Bia has enhanced her newsroom skills by serving as an Intern with KRON and KTVU-TV in San Francisco and Oakland.
I also found Bia to be extremely able in taking concepts and theories discussed in class and translating them to her fieldwork. Bia also exhibits a maturity not usually seen in undergraduate students.
Bia is a serious and dedicated student. She is highly motivated and a self-starter. I believe that Bia has the potential, the drive and maturity to thrive in your company.
I recommend Bia Roldan highly and without reservation.
